Breeding programs all over the world

Nowadays, the wild white lion is still found in South Africa in the Kruger Park and Timbavati nature reserves, but it is being selectively bred in zoos around the world. Various white lion breeding programs have started around the world, including Zion Wildlife Gardens in New Zealand and West Midlands Safari Park in Bewdley, Worcestershire, where the first clan of british white lions was introduced in 2004. In August 2006 , four cubs, Casper, Kiara, Lara and Toto, were born, bringing to eight the total number of white lions in the park. All white lions belong to the subgroup of the Timbavati Game Reserve and have not been crossed with other types of lions except a white lioness from the Toronto Zoo crossed with a half-breed male.
