In the region of Poindimié, isolated women or female associations have embarked for more than twenty years in the culture of pandanus for their own needs and for the customary work of their clan with the desire to put the traditional pandanus mat back at the heart of the customary gestures. The idea for these plantations was born at the time of the EPK, the Kanak folk schools, which offered braiding activities from 1986 to 1993.
