Perched at an altitude of 3,937 ft (1,200 m) in the Puy-de-Dôme department, Lake Servières is bordered by evergreen conifers, mostly common spruces (Picea abies). They remain green all year long, even during winter. Their persistent needles usually last between five to seven years. When they fall, they are renewed little by little instead of all at the same time, unlike deciduous trees.
