The Blacktip Shark is one of the few shark species, among the 530 known, to have fins marked with black. The 2nd dorsal and the anal fins of the Gray Reef Shark are almost entirely black but its 1st dorsal has no black mark. It is also much larger (8.3ft i.e 2.55m) and does not frequent shallow coastal waters.
