A carnivorous mammal of the canid family, the black-backed jackal is the largest jackal with a height of 15.7 inches (40cm) at tshoulder height and a weight up to 30.8lbs (14kg). His coat is deep beige with, on his back, a darker coat resembling the blanket that riders put on the back of their mounts.
