El achiote, urucú, rocú, onoto, bija o benis (Bixa orellana) es una especie botánica arborescente de las regiones intertropicales de América, cultivado específicamente en México, América Central, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, y Andes de Perú, desde la época precolombina. De su fruto se obtiene la especia homónima, empleada como colorante y condimento en la comida popular. En México recibe también el nombre común de acotillo.
Esta planta contiene una serie de pigmentos en sus semillas aceitosas, que es usado en la alimentación y como afrodisíaco. Igualmente tiene uso medicinal. El aceite que se extrae de las semillas también tiene uso el la cosmética.
