Three-quarters of the fifty or so European bisons in the Monts d'Azur Reserve were born on the reserve whose objective is to create a population independent of those of Poland and Belarus to increase the genetic variability of the species and ensure its survival. Since 2008, more than 60 births have taken place in the reserve and 22 young bisons have been transferred to other reserves in Europe.
