Biodiversity and light

The seabed of the Marquesas, high islands of volcanic origin, are full of underwater caves with original configurations. There are large dark cavities up to 328ft (100m) long, narrower and silted caves, tunnels, partially lit open arches. In all cases, there is a decrease in the apparent biodiversity from the entrance, which still benefits from light, to the bottom of the cave where the darkness is total.
