On the left bank of Lake Longemer is the Bilon hill, where a hermitage was built in 1056. A former officer of the Duke Gerard of Alsace, weary of the pomp of the court, retired there to do penance. His grave was discovered in 1961. The bones of the hermit Bilon were then exhumed, a chain around his waist. The hermitage was probably destroyed by rocks descended from the mountain or buried under alluvium. A chapel dedicated to St Florent was built in 1727, as evidenced by an engraved stone. It contains the remains of the hermit Bilon, 18th-century statues, and 19th-century paintings.
