The Arctic tundra is snow-covered for most of the year. Without roads or trails, it may seem difficult to move in this field of white. Inhabitants of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago are very observant. During their hunting expedition, Inuit people get their bearings from landscape shapes (hills, snow banks, sharp or round mountains summits...) and they frequently look behind them to visualize the way back.
