Baume-les-Messieurs at the foot of the first Jura plateau

0
The village of Baume-les-Messieurs is dominated by the first Jura plateau. Between the foothills of Revermont and the Upper Jura range, the secondary age sedimentary cover made up of Triassic and Jurassic series was in fact set up in the form of stepped tiers, called first and second Jura plateaus. These plateaus form two successive steps from west to east which allow an elevation of almost 3,280 feet (1,000 m). The westernmost first plateau reaches an altitude of 1,968 to 2,296 feet (600 to 700 m).
