Barred owlets

These three barred owlets (sorry for the cut, the original is not cut but I cannot adjust the size in the app here…) were the cutest thing I saw when I opened my tent during a field guide course in the South African bush. They were about 20 centimetres tall and just started learning how to hunt. As these owlets are active during the day they have quite a show in camp. They were not shy at all and I could approach them quite easily. Check our Instagram @BestRegardsFromFar for more footage!
