The Italian artist Giuseppe Penone installed his work in the forum of the Centre Pompidou-Metz for its 10th birthday. Named Indistinti confini - Noce (Indistinct borders - Walnut), it consists of a bronze cast of a walnut tree about 49 ft high (15 m). Some of its sections and ramifications are made of white marble. Penone, a member of the Arte Povera movement in the '60s, compares the tree to a skater and a tightrope walker, balancing on an unstable ground.
