Canala Bay is located on the east coast of Grande-Terre in the far south of the North province, about 102mi (165km) from Nouméa. It gets deep inland on 7.4mi (12km) between the mountainous and green Bogota peninsula - which rises to 2011ft (613m) and ends with Cape Dumoulin promontory - and the Mara peninsula.
