The capital of Balagne, Calvi and its Citadel overlook a large bay bordered on 3.7mi (6km) by a sandy beach and a pine forest. Often swept by libeccio, this bay is well sheltered and protected by the tip of the Revellata which advances of 3.6mi (6,5km) in the sea and rises up to 492ft (150m) to the west of the city. The surrounding peaks offer magnificent views of the whole.
