Baby giraffe

Cuteness overload!! Only a few days old this baby giraffe was quite curious as we were probably the first humans it has ever seen. Notice the long eyelashes which protect the eyes when eating the tiny leafs from the thorny acacia trees. Did you know that the tree produces tannins as soon as a giraffe starts eating. It releases ethylene into the air to warn other trees downwind so that they can produce the tannins, making sure the giraffe does not eat all the leafs and moves on quickly for a less bitter bite!
