In 2012, the Cornille-Havard foundry in Villedieu-les-Poêles was chosen to cast eight new bells for Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris, to mark its 850th anniversary. Delivered in January 2013, the bells – weighing from 782 kilos to four tonnes – were installed in the north tower. Three signatures can be seen on each bell: those of the Cornille-Havard foundry, Virginie Bassetti’s, the designer of the decorations, and Jean-Claude Quinette’s, the engraving artist who assisted the designer. The best engravers work with the Cornille-Havard foundry.
