The construction of Saint-Michel Church in Le Havre was completed in 1964. It replaced the town's first church, which dated from 1661, and was designed by Henri Colboc, a local architect winner of the Rome Grand Prix. The 154 ft high (47 m) bell tower of the church symbolizes a candle in the heart of an open book when the building is seen from the sky. The interior of Saint-Michel Church features a set of glass roofs created by master glassmaker Boutzen.
