Hikers often take advantage of winter to walk on the surface of Lake Servières when it is frozen. Yet, the site can be discovered in all seasons from the mainland, thanks to the two long-distance hiking trails intersecting there. Lake Servières indeed extends at the intersection of the GR30, which forms a 120 miles (193 km) loop to discover the Auvergne lakes around Puy de Sancy, and the more modest GR 441, which explores the Chaîne des Puys by connecting Volvic to the lake.
