The Baronnies Provençales Regional Nature Park was created in 2014 over an area of 969 square miles (1,560 km²) between the Drôme and the Hautes-Alpes departments at the crossroads of Alpine and Provençal influences. This preserved natural area offers both a remarkable topography (149 natural habitat sites) and biodiversity (2,000 plant varieties, 203 animal species) and a rich terroir (six CDO and four Protected Geographical Indications). The park consists of numerous wooded areas and moors covered with Scots pines, Aleppo pines, beeches, and holm oaks but also rosehips and blackthorns as well as perfume, aromatic, and medicinal plants.
