France has around 180 cross-country ski resorts, half of them located in municipalities also offering alpine skiing facilities. The country holds around 6,213 mi (10,000 km) of packed slopes distributed between the Northern Alps (37%), the Jura (24%), the Massif Central (15%), the Southern Alps (11%), the Pyrenees (8%), and the Vosges (5%). They host an average of about two million skier days per season.
