Arctic tundra vegetation
0
0
Particularly rugged and resilient, the Canadian Arctic tundra vegetation has developed many means of survival and adaptation to best exploit the favorable climate at the ground level. Its growing season covers only 50 to 60 days per year when the soil is waterlogged by the melting of the snow and of its upper layers above the permafrost and when the 24 hours a day sunshine raises the atmosphere temperature thus stimulating the growth.
