A snowdrift is a pile of snow resulting from the wind’s action. When the wind blows in violent gusts on the Arctic tundra, large amounts of snow can be moved and accumulated in places where its effect is weaker. They can be obstacles to human circulation but they can help Inuit people to make camp sheltered from the wind or to hide during the hunt.
