Corsica is dotted with many sacred buildings marked by different artistic movements: they tell the history of the island. The influence of invaders, especially Italian, is predominant through the Romanesque churches, cathedrals and small rural chapels. Baroque art occurs later, with asymmetrical pediments, high altars, marquetry, colored marbles, but also a large number of campaniles rising from one end of the island to the other in the regions of Balagne, Castagniccia, and Nebbio.
