The Indonesian archipelago of Raja Ampat is located near the northwest coast of New Guinea at the western limit of the Pacific Ocean where the waters of the Pacific and Indian oceans are responsible for a strong continental current originating from the Sahul. Its some 1,500 islands scattered over tens of thousands of square miles are shared between the Pacific Ocean, the Seram Sea and the Halmahera Sea.
