'Aranui' and the tikis of Raivavae

No one in Raivavae ventures to touch 'Aranui', the laughing coral stone tiki that reminds the islanders of the legends and ancient beliefs. Three other tikis were brought to Tahiti, in 1933. Two of them are in the Gauguin Museum of Papeari after several cursed transportations, the third one sank and was spotted in the lagoon of Raivavae by the Army in 2004.
