The Aoupinié state forest massif covers 7sqmi (11.3km2) in the municipalities of Ponérihouen and Poya in the Northern province of Grande-Terre. It rises to 3,300ft (1,006m) above sea level. Its forest has been classified as a 'hunting reserve' since 1975 and is part of the traditional hunting and picking areas of the tribes of Gohapin in the west and Goa in the east.
