The annealing of the finished glass objects aims to lower the stresses and strains associated with the sudden and faster outside than inside cooling of the glass paste. It increases their resistance and limits the risk of breakage when using the items. The annealing temperature is first raised above the firing temperature to overcome the stresses created during manufacturing before a slow and controlled cooling.
