The African plains are characterized by the cohabitation of various species of herbivorous mammals (giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, hippos, warthogs ...) and also birds (cranes, marabouts, guinea fowls, bustards, terrestrial hornbills, egrets, herons ...) which can be observed together, especially near water points at sunrise and sunset. Zebras and large antelopes, as here waterbucks, frequently cohabit.
