Anchoring of the rizophora selala
3
0
The Rhizophora selala mangrove trees are characterized by their numerous aerial roots descending vertically to the ground in which they anchor thus contributing to their stilt system. Their rather thin trunks are also fitted with buttresses which thicken them at the base and increase their contact surface with the muddy and flooded soils, thus improving their hold in very loose areas.
