The interiors of the early cars seem rather simple compared to those of today. If luxury materials such as precious woods can still be found in some models nowadays, the dashboard has considerably changed. On most pre-war cars, the driver had little information at his disposal. On the Bugatti Royale, yet the most expensive car in the world in the 1930s, there were no fuel gauge, speedometer, or ammeter. The Aventure Automobile (Motor Car Experience) area of the Cité de l'Automobile displays 243 emblematic cars from 1878 to the present day.
