The discovery of the fossiliferous deposits in the Causses du Quercy is inseparable from the phosphate fever. This mania occurred during the second half of the nineteenth century. At the heart of the pockets full of this ore emptied by minors, bones and fossils were found in numbers. Some even were crushed to serve inside fertilizer. The most beautiful pieces have been sold, exchanged, or given, to end up in the hands of paleontologists. Today it constitutes the ancient collections of Quercy, exposed in various museums.
