Reims Cathedral served as a crowning site for 31 kings of France and their wives. Its 452 ft long (138 m), 124 ft high (38 m), and 44 ft wide (15 m) nave gets its particular aspect from the unusual flight of its crossed arches. Its pillars differ from the usual octagonal shape and consist of an innovative assembly of round columns. The interior space of the cathedral is also arranged differently by the creation of five radiating chapels, inlaid in a semicircle.
