As the last link of the A75 highway, the Millau Viaduct constituted a technological challenge unprecedented in France. It involved crossing a wide valley, through which the Tarn flows, without degrading the landscape. Controversial at the time of its construction, it has contributed to the reputation of the region. Inaugurated in December 2004, the Millau Viaduct attracts motorists, who no longer spend hours in the traffic jams of the national roads, and visitors intrigued by a bridge unique in France and Europe.
