An universal yet obscure work

Marc Chagall thought about stained-glass work as exhilarating, serious, and passionate. The Centre Pompidou-Metz displays his sketches through an exhibition that highlights his spiritual and artistic journey. Through luminous colors, sometimes crude, the artist expresses a Judeo-universal language that he always seeks to make accessible to the uninitiated. At the same time, Chagall often seems to spread an encrypted message in his work.
