An octagonal Neo-Byzantine chapel
0
0
The octagonal Notre-Dame de Provence chapel stands on the site of the castle of the Counts of Forcalquier on the plateau of the Citadel. In neo-Byzantine style, it was erected from 1869 and inaugurated on September 12, 1875. It is topped with a dome that serves as a pedestal for a statue of the Virgin. Its manual carillon from the 1920s has fifteen bells that punctuate the year with traditional Provençal music every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and on the occasion of the main festivities.
