Situated in Normandy, the Mont-Saint-Michel enjoys an oceanic type of climate. Along the shoreline, the winters are relatively mild and the summers are cool. All year round, the region is subject to relatively abundant rainfall. In the bay, the climatic conditions change very quickly. Rain, wind, cold, and heat can alternate within a few hours. Thunderstorms in particular are generally unpredictable and often very violent. This is something to bear in mind before crossing the bay on foot.
