An islet inhabited by few animal species
0
0
Due to its remoteness both in Baie du Robert and from its nine other islets as well as to the rarity of its plant cover, Loup Garou islet hosts few animal species. There are mainly a few anolis (lizards) and crabs. Its sandbar, on the other hand, constitutes a nesting beach for sea turtles. The biotope protection order to which it has been subject since 2002 makes it possible to preserve the habitat necessary for the feeding, resting, reproduction, and, therefore, survival of its rare animal species. Since 2013, access to Loup Garou islet has even been completely prohibited from September 1 to December 31.
