An island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea
0
0
The east coast of Martinique opens onto the Atlantic Ocean. It alternates the large wild beaches of the south of the island, the white seabed off Le François and Le Robert going northward, the indented Caravelle peninsula (photo), and the jagged cliffs of the less touristy northern Atlantic coast. The Lesser Antilles archipelago, of which Martinique is a part, separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea that bathes the west coast of the island. It is made up of the islands of the southern part of the Caribbean arc from Puerto Rico and the Anegada Trough northwest to the South American subcontinent.
