Port-Cros National Park includes the Port-Cros' islets Integral Reserve created in May 2007 in the municipality of Hyères-les-Palmiers in the Var department. The area, difficult to access and little frequented, corresponds to a protected zone of 150 island acres (61 ha) comprising the three satellite islets of Port-Cros island: Bagaud, Gabinière, and Rascas. The main objective of this laboratory space, formed of sentinel islands protected from human disturbance, is the study and monitoring of the natural dynamics of ecosystems and taxa spared by human activity.
