The pink of the exterior walls of the facade of his childhood home in Granville remained a major source of inspiration for Christian Dior. It is also intimately linked to his mother and her affection for the roses with which she adorned her renowned garden. Dior's first collection, in 1947, was called corolla, and 50 dresses were named after roses. The flower also entered the components of his first Miss Dior perfume. Even today, the rose appears in Dior advertisements and jewelry.
