An identity factor and a marker of Norman temporalities

Beyond its attested presence in rural areas and the economic importance of the equine sector, the horse occupies an important place in the Normandy regional imagination and in the daily life of the inhabitants. It is part of the image of Normandy, to the tradition of which it belongs. Anchored in the territory, the horse also marks its temporalities, whether daily with the practice of horse riding, working horses, and the training of racehorses, or occasionally with equestrian tourism and races or, more exceptionally, with major equestrian events such as the World Equestrian Games in 2014.
