Located in the fan-shaped city-center of Cabourg, Avenue de la Mer is one of the busiest thoroughfares for visitors and residents alike. This 1,968 ft (600 m) long avenue extends Avenue de l'Hippodrome and ends on the edge of the beach at the level of the Casino gardens. It has been pedestrianized by the municipality every day, from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., in July and August. This decision aimed to allow ramblers to peacefully enjoy its ready-to-wear and souvenir shops as well as its food shops and countless restaurants.
