A viaduct is generally a longer and taller engineered structure than a simple bridge. It is the case with regard to the height - 98.4 ft / 30 m - of the Clécy viaduct, whose vaults are raised. All of its load is transferred to the nine vaults that transmit it to its high abutments in concrete and stone, both incompressible and durable materials perfectly suited to arch bridges.
