Beyond the construction of a fortified castle with the means and techniques of the 13th century, Guédelon's second project is to share with visitors (schoolchildren, tourists, works councils, etc.) the daily life of a medieval construction site between mid-March and early November. A visit to the site takes them back to the Middle Ages. They discover workers in medieval clothes who cut, forge, weave, and square before their eyes. Percherons horses and donkeys transport wood, stones, and mortar from the clearing hamlet to the craftsmen's villages and from the quarry to the castle site. A tavern even welcomes visitors according to the medieval art of living with hypocras wines and pies.
