An economy largely based on tourism

The site of the most important resurgence in Europe, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse has developed an economic activity largely based on tourism and water sports (canoeing and kayaking, trout fishing, etc.). Visitors attracted by the karstic spring of the Sorgue river can also discover the papermaking tradition of the Vallis Clausa (closed valley) by visiting the artisanal paper mill with wooden beaters driven by a paddle wheel facing the Castle of the Bishops of Cavaillon. Numerous hotel and restaurant services, souvenir and Provençal products shops, significant artisanal activity, and various museums (Petrarch museum, Santons museum, Jean Garcin history museum, Underground World museum) complete the attractions of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
