An Art Deco splendour

The Plaza Athénée Hotel is the result of the union of classic elegance with Art Deco. During the Roaring Twenties, the hotel expanded and doubled in size. Charles Lefebvre redesigned the new flats and salons. In 1936, the Relais-Plaza restaurant was added to the establishment. Decorated by Constant Lefranc on the model of the first class dining room of the liner Normandie, it was an immediate success. The facade of the hotel on Avenue Montaigne, the roof, the lobby (photo), the grand gallery, the dining room of the gastronomic restaurant, and the Salon Montaigne have been listed as historical monuments since 1994.
