Frank Gehry imagined the Louis Vuitton Foundation as a ship set on a basin, between wood and garden. The large curved sails alone are an architectural feat. They do not have a roofing function, but protect the terraces against bad weather and reduce solar gain. They lean or rise depending on the angle of view. The interior spaces are enveloped by a white skin with chiselled and irregular shapes, hence the name iceberg. Its cladding is made up of curved panels, all different, obtained by moulding an ultra-high performance white fibre concrete, Ductal.
