An annual waterbirds census

The census of the waterbirds takes place every year around Serre-Ponçon Lake as it does on 1,499 other French sites. It is organized by the Ecrins National Park and coordinated at the regional level by the League for the Protection of Birds. The census is carried out by experienced ornithologists and volunteer amateurs who scrutinize the body of water and its banks through binoculars and telescopes throughout a January Sunday.
