An ancient agricultural vocation

The agricultural vocation of La Londe-les-Maures is ancient. From the 2nd century, the culture of olive trees, vines, and cereals spread thanks to the favorable climate of the region and the creation of a port in L'Argentière by the Romans. A few centuries later, in the Middle Ages, the monks of Saint-Victor in Marseille, and then the Carthusian monks of Montrieux and the neighboring Chartreuse de La Verne acquired important properties through donations. They built the first estates for agricultural purposes on the current territory of La Londe-les-Maures.
